About Tempest
Kia ora! My name is Tempest Wihongi. Everything 'Art By Tempest' was created by me (as the name implies). I was raised in Whangarei, which is where I grew to love drawing and painting at a young age. I got my first art commission in 2011 for my dads IT business at the time, but it was enough to boost my confidence as an artist, and I have been doing commissions for many other people and making art ever since then.
I have recently moved to Hamilton, which is now where Art By Tempest is based. I have created this place to display and share my art and passion with everyone who is interested.

Manaia Maunga Art Print, Unframed
Manaia Maunga stands in the Whangarei Harbour on the northern east coast of Aotearoa - New Zealand. Manaia, in Maori legend, was one of five brothers (Manaia, Maungaraho, Tokatoka, Motowhitiki, and Taungatara) who lived in Hawaiki. Unsatisfied with their lives in Hawaiki, they followed Kupe under the cover of night to travel to Aotearoa. As the sun rose, Ātua took away their movement and they were stranded where they stood to this day. Manaia, Maungaraho, Tokatoka and Motowhitiki stand in a straight line to Ripiro beach, where the smallest peak of Taungatara stands.
